Whenever something uncomfortable surfaces, becomes impossible to ignore any longer, some injustice and atrocity in some parts of the world, it’s easy to think: that doesn’t involve me. I am not part of that. I wouldn’t do things like that. I am a good person. I am kind and wouldn’t deliberately hurt anyone. These problems don’t exist in my world, in my community. But everything we do and choosing to not do has repercussions for the rest of the world. What if not being a part of the solution is being part of the problem? What if our personal lives are supporting the injustice without us even realizing it? And what if you can be a good person and still have the capacity to do bad stuff?
