You cannot escape your pain. You can try, and may succeed for a while, but, eventually, it will catch up with you. Perhaps, not in the shape and form that you would expect. We are human, and pain is a part of human existence. We cannot bypass it through special spiritual practices, or through numbing out with whichever kind of medicine, too much work, alcohol, or anything. It may be necessary to do that for some time until you are ready to start meeting that which you carry inside. We all carry something, but usually, we don’t want to admit it. And, since no one admits it, we believe that we are the only ones and that there is something wrong with us. Which, of course, there isn’t. I have carried so much grief my whole life, my own, and the grief and pain of other people. It has taken me years to unpack this, and still, subtler layers are showing up. I realized recently, with the help of a wise person, that I am also carrying the burden for people who are not even here on this earth plane any longer. Kind of stupid. I know, but I don’t think I am the only one. Perhaps you too carry pain, grief, anger, fear, desperation, and hopelessness for people who are not here anymore. If so, maybe it’s time to lay down that burden and live your life for you. And one last thing, all the grief I have felt and still feel has made space for so much joy. Wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
